Basic Requirements
Before you apply, make sure you meet these basic qualifications:
- Age: Must be 18 years or older
- Experience: At least 3 years of previous/recent babysitting, childcare, or teaching experience
- Availability: Flexible schedule for occasional, on-call assignments
- Background: Clean background check (we’ll conduct this as part of the process)
- References: At least 2-3 recent childcare references
Bonus qualifications:
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Early childhood education background
- Special needs experience
- Multilingual skills
The Application Process: Step by Step
Step 1: Submit Your Application
Visit our website and fill out the online application form. You’ll provide:
- Basic contact information
- Previous childcare experience
- Education background
- References
- Any special skills or certifications
Step 2: Initial Review
Our team will review your application within 3-5 business days. We’re looking for:
- Relevant experience
- Availability that matches our needs
- Complete and thoughtful responses
- Professional presentation
If your application looks like a good fit, we’ll move you to the next step!
Step 3: In-Person Interview
During this interview, we’ll:
- Discuss scenarios and how you’d handle different situations
- Review our policies and procedures
- Talk about safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Go over scheduling, payment, and communication processes
- Get to know your personality and childcare philosophy
- We may also provide training on:
- Age-appropriate activities
- Emergency protocols
- Conflict resolution
- Professional boundaries
Step 4: Reference Checks
We’ll contact your references to verify:
- Your experience with children
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to handle various situations
- Overall suitability for childcare work

Step 5: Background Check
All Pinch Sitters must pass a comprehensive background check. We take the safety of the families we serve very seriously, and this is a non-negotiable requirement.
The background check includes:
- Criminal history
- Driving record (if applicable)
- Identity verification
Step 6: Welcome to the Team!
Congratulations! You’re now officially a Pinch Sitter. Here’s what happens next:
You’ll be added to our roster of available sitters and start receiving booking requests based on your availability. Our team is here to support you from the beginning to answer any questions or problem solve any concerns that may arise.
What Happens After You’re Hired?
How Bookings Work:
- Families request childcare through our system
- We match them with available sitters based on location, experience, and availability
- You’ll receive all the details (address, children’s ages, special instructions, etc.)
Payment:
- Competitive hourly rates
- Prompt payment after completed assignments
- Potential for higher rates during holidays, events, multiple families sharing a sitter etc
Ongoing Support:
- Regular check-ins from our team
- Access to resources and activity ideas
- Community of fellow sitters

Q: Do I need to commit to a certain number of hours/jobs/days? A: No! Pinch Sitters provides on-call, occasional care. You accept jobs based on your availability.
Q: Do you provide CPR/First Aid training? A: While we strongly encourage certification, we can provide information on where to get certified in our area. Some sitters come to us already certified.
Q: Can I work for other families or agencies while working with Pinch Sitters? A: Yes! Our model is flexible. Just make sure you honor any commitments you’ve made to us.
Q: What ages of children will I work with? A: Families with children of all ages use our services—from infants to pre-teens. You can indicate your preferences and comfort level with different age groups.
